PSL Rocks and The Positive Impact On Our Community

PSL Rocks is a group on Facebook centered around the activities of painting and hiding rocks for others to find and share. It’s fun for the whole family and a great way to increase community engagement. But to say that’s all they do couldn’t be further from the truth.

The group was founded by Port St. Lucie’s own Melissa McInturff and now has almost 20,000 members after barely a year. What’s even more amazing is how Melissa and her close knit group of friends have developed this group into a powerhouse of good for our community. The leaders at PSL Rocks are constantly organizing events and fundraisers that help local charities on the Treasure Coast. These include American Gold Star Mothers, Rescue Adoption, the Boys and Girls Club, and many others. In fact, as I am writing this they are putting together a last minute fundraiser for the local humane society, which took in 5 dogs recently abandoned by their owner.

Melissa has a great team of friends in place that go above and beyond to make a difference and help with these events. These include Carmen Molina, Colleen Christie del Valle, Erin Sugrue, Lauren Odell, Kim Kingsley, Lisa Stapleton Piver, Patty Fontaine, Ben and Lisa Wilkins, Marie Lopez, and Kimlee Harper. Just saying this group has had a positive impact on our community is an understatement. Seeing people work so hard at their normal day jobs and then put in time and effort to make such a profound difference is inspiring to me and the whole community. I’m proud to be a member of this wonderful group and blessed to work along such great community leaders. So on behalf of, local parents, the town of Port St. Lucie, and the members of PSL Rocks, we say to Melissa and her team…
